DUSU elections: Left outfit marches against littering during campus polls
NEW DELHI: As
“After the ‘shakti pradarshan’, North Campus looked like a ravaged terrain littered with pamphlets and public property defaced with spray paint,” said AISA DU president Kawalpreet Kaur.
NSUI released its ‘digital manifesto’, a specific task sheet for every college. It was publicised widely on social media as the students’ outfit tried to clear its own image. When asked why NSUI names were also painted on public property, NSUI Delhi president Akshay Lakhtra said the party couldn’t possibly keep tabs on its sympathisers.
Meanwhile, DUSU chief election officer asked candidates to clear the campus and its adjoining areas of election posters and banners in the next 36 hours, failing which their candidature would be rejected. The direction comes after the proctor and the CEO’s office received several complaints about defacement. “These are gross violations of the Code of Conduct for DUSU elections, Lyngdoh Committee recommendations and NGT order. The DUSU election committee directs the stakeholders to immediately stop all these activities,” said S B Babbar, chief election officer. TNN
