The woman, a civil service aspirant, found out about the alleged digital voyeurism after she noticed that her WhatsApp web account was connected to a device unknown to her.

Karan, the 30-year-old landlord, had spied on his tenant for nearly three months and had videos of the woman, police have found out.

A case under section 77 (voyeurism) of BNS has been registered and Karan, who is physically challenged and has been preparing for competitive exams for seven years, is being questioned.

The woman, after renting the room in Karan's house, had entrusted him with the keys three months ago when she went to Uttar Pradesh.

One day after returning, she noticed the unusual WhatsApp activity, prompting her to investigate further. She found out that her account had been linked to an unknown laptop. She immediately logged out of it.

The discovery prompted the woman to search her apartment for surveillance devices. This is when she found a hidden camera in her bathroom's bulb holder. She made a PCR call.

SHO Sanjay Kumar Gupta said police personnel from Shakarpur East police station went to the house. During a search, they found another hidden camera in the bedroom's bulb holder.

The investigation revealed that Karan had installed spy cameras with memory cards at multiple points.

Police said that after the woman went to Uttar Pradesh, Karan installed spy cameras in her bedroom and bathroom. As the arrangement had no online operational capability, Karan repeatedly requested for the keys to "repair" electrical fixtures to secretly transfer recorded videos to his laptops from the memory cards.

Police also found a spy camera from Karan's possession and two laptops that had footage of the woman.
