the matter will be heard on monday. kumar was formally arrested at 8:50 pm on friday. he was remanded to judicial custody till april 29 by a duty magistrate at the apollo hospital, where he was undergoing ``treatment'' for a heart ailment. kumar's arrest came to light when the ed counsel, subhash bansal sought a three-day further remand for rajesh kalra, to confront him with kumar. the ed also wanted kalra to be confronted with some documents recovered from the factory premises of prime accused sanjeev chawla, who is currently based in london. kalra was produced before magistrate swaran kanta mehra at 3.20 pm on saturday. she remanded him to a day's custody. after that, the magistrate went to apollo hospital to consider the ed's application for judicial remand of krishan kumar. while sending kumar to judicial custody (jail), the magistrate directed the cardiology head of the apollo hospital to submit his medical report before the court of additional chief metropolitan magistrate on monday - when ed's application to move kumar to aiims is slated for hearing. seeking the court's direction to aiims director to constitute a separate medical board for examining kumar, the ed in its application said: ``the general condition as per the advice of dr raman puri, the cardiology head, is that kumar is unfit to move out due to his (precarious) medical condition. earlier kumar was undergoing treatment at kailash hospital in noida and the doctors attending on him had told the media he is fit for interrogation and the doctors in apollo hospital have given altogether a contradictory statement which smells of ulterior motive with a view to thwart the ongoing investigation.'' ``moreover, the hospital where he is undergoing treatment is a private one, hence it may be reasonably suspected that a fair and impartial report to the investigating agency regarding his present physical state is not possible,'' ed said. kalra was arrested on april 6 in the match-fixing case involving south african cricketer hansie cronje. he was initially remanded to two days in police custody which was extended by four days. later the ed took him into custody to interrogate him on possible violation of foreign exchange regulation act (fera) rules while transacting huge amount of foreign exchange through hawala during the match fixing.
