NEW DELHI: A 35-year-old man, alleged to be the kingpin of a notorious gang of thieves, was arrested on Thursday, police said. The accused, identified as Nadeem (35), was wanted in 12 cases of
robbery in the city, police said.
Nadeem is a notorious thief with a penchant for a luxurious lifestyle and branded clothes. He was wanted in over 130 cases of burglary in different parts of Delhi, cops said.
The police have recovered four pairs of gold earrings, two gold rings and other items from his possession.
“Acting on a tip-off, we laid a trap near MTNL Chowk, Dwarka and managed to nab Nadeem,” said A K Ojha, DCP (southwest). The gang used to target flats in upscale colonies like South-Ex, Greater Kailash and Defence Colony and ransack them in broad daylight.
The ‘Nadeem gang’ has been active in Delhi for over twelve years, since 1999m, police said. Lately, the gang had started targeting newly constructed flats in Dwarka. On 27th of last month, a police team managed to nab his another gang member, Arif aka Kallu, but Nadeem managed to escape.
