NEW DELHI: With an aim to engage the large number of crowds gathering at the newly-launched Kartavya Path, the Central Bureau of Communication, the publicity wing of the Union information and broadcasting ministry, has launched a month-long series of entertainment and infotainment programmes around the India Gate lawns that will offer visitors a blend of music, dance, street plays, skits and exhibitions.
The government has roped in artists enlisted with the ministry's Song and Drama Division and events will be hosted on the Step Plaza open-air stage following sunset to 8pm everyday.
On weekends, visitors will be offered a special cultural fare that promises to reflect India's rich cultural heritage blended with modern improvisations. The performances include classical dance forms like Kathak, Oddissi, classical and semi-classical instrumental music performances, as well as programme containing patriotic songs that also convey the message of 'Azadi ka Amrit Mahotsav'. A string of special performances will also be unveiled as part of this year's Gandhi Jayanti celebrations. TNN
