Kalindi College governing body calls off inquiry
NEW DELHI: The governing body of
On February 14, the governing body had decided to conduct an inquiry against the college principal, Anula Maurya, over financial irregularities related to the General Financial Rules for the procurement of articles in the college and the mismanagement of Provident Funds. Maurya had been sent on a leave.
With members of the executive council and Delhi University Teachers Association protesting the inquiry, the GB members alleged they were confined to a room and harassed. Cops were called in and the GB chairman, Deepak Marwah, had filed a complaint. TOI had also reported about it.
The principal, Anula Maurya, has now said that the issue has been resolved and that she did not want to comment on it.
GB members and teacher representative also wrote to Delhi Police commissioner stating they were humiliated, abused and were living in an environment of fear and asked the cops to file an FIR on the matter.
Speaking to TOI, Marwah said: “I have now given up as the VC doesn’t react to it. I have sent five reminders in 20 days with all details but no one wants to react on the matter. There is political pressure and hence it is difficult to fight it out.”
The letter, which the teacher representatives wrote to the top cop, states: “An educational institution is not an akhara for a group of men to create an intimidating, humiliating, abusive and offensive environment for women, whom these hoodlums wrongfully kept confined, criminally intimidated, harassed and threatened. It is regretted that the SHO, who had conducted himself as a man sensitive to the plight of women, has failed to register an FIR and has not seized the area’s CCTV footage. This footage is crucial evidence that may be tampered with if the cops continue to nap.”
