New Delhi: Two days after gunning down a cop in Bawana, the three accused—Sumit Thakran (21), Rahul alias Panda (21) and Sunil Sehrawat alias Churri—committed a robbery at a Mother Dairy booth in west Delhi’s Rohini. They made away with Rs 50,000 in cash. Not just that, they robbed a biker using their .33 bore pistol and fled with his motorcycle a day before killing the constable, Anand Singh.
The constable murder case has been transferred to the special cell of the Outer district. The police have now begun to probe whether the trio had come to sell three boxes of liquor in the area on Friday and ended up targeting the woman and the cop. The accused were found to have links with the local liquor mafia as well. TOI had reported this on Wednesday.
DCP (special cell) Pramod Kushwaha said that the unemployed youths wanted to make a fast buck by committing a spate of robberies. They were inspired by gangster Manoj Motihari, also known as “kidnapping king” in the crime world.
“Thakran has studied up to Class XII. He worked as a driver for about two years. Later, he came in touch with local criminals and started committing petty crimes,” Kushwaha added.
Panda too has studied up to plus-two level. He got influenced by local gangsters and started committing crimes. He was involved in two cases of assault and attempt to murder.
Sehrawat is a Class X dropout. “He worked as a school bus driver in Rohini. Earlier, he and Panda had tried to murder one Atul Jacky after a brawl,” joint commissioner V Renganathan said.
