NEW DELHI: After much drama, the Jawaharlal Nehru University (JNU) elections are finally taking place early next month. November 4 is the day earmarked as the D-day, with filing of nominations to begin from October 18.
The final list of candidates will be put up on October 26, while the presidential debate, one of the highlights of the JNU elections, will be on November 2.
Last week, the election process was halted due to protests by an organisation, about the previous chief election commissioner (CEC). In the aftermath of the protests, a new CEC was elected. Incidentally, at JNU, the elections are an unique process, handled entirely by the student community, from electing the 26-member election commission to conducting the actual polls.
