Jaipur LPG Tanker Fire Live Update: Death toll rises to 14, 33 injured

The death toll from the LPG tanker collision and resulting fire on the Jaipur-Ajmer highway has risen to 11, with 43 others hospitalized, many in critical condition.

The tragic incident occurred early Friday morning, around 5.30 am, when an LPG tanker collided with a truck. The impact caused the tanker's outlet nozzle to rupture, leading to a gas leak that triggered a massive blaze.

Of the injured, seven patients are reported to be on ventilator support, with authorities expressing grave concerns over their condition. The fire caused extensive damage, with several vehicles caught in the inferno.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi has spoken with Rajasthan Chief Minister Bhajanlal Sharma regarding the tragic fire incident in Jaipur. During the conversation, the Prime Minister inquired about the situation and offered the central government's support to assist in managing the aftermath of the incident.

"The road accident in Jaipur, Rajasthan is deeply tragic. I express my heartfelt condolences to the families of those who lost their lives in this accident. I have spoken with chief minister Bhajan Lal Sharma regarding this. The local administration is providing immediate treatment to the injured. I wish for the speedy recovery of the injured.": Union home minister Amit Shah stated.

CM Bhajan Lal Sharma on Friday announced financial assistance of Rs 5 lakh to the families of the deceased who lost their lives in the gas tanker fire incident on the Jaipur-Ajmer National Highway, and Rs 1 lakh to the injured. He further announced a thorough investigation into the matter.

'We have made a dedicated ICU in the hospital. Prima facie it seems the accident happened due to a collision between a truck and a container of CNG. There have been casualties. Firefighters have managed to bring the blaze under control, but traffic on the Jaipur-Ajmer highway has been halted due to the ongoing rescue operation. The highway remains closed as authorities continue to clear the area and assess the damage.
