Delhi: Jailed don’s aide held for extortion

Pradeep Solanki was arrested for threatening the owner of a private

hospital

and asking him to pay Rs 1 crore ransom. The accused had threatened to murder the owner and his son if the payment was not made.

DCP (Dwarka) Anto Alphonse said the accused, Jitender alias Jitu, was associated with gangsters Pradeep Solanki and Manjeet Mahal, who are lodged in Tihar Jail.

The complainant, a doctor who also owns two hospitals, told cops that he had started receiving calls on WhatsApp from unknown numbers. However, he chose to ignore them.

On December 11, five men, armed with pistols, barged into the complainant’s hospital and demanded seeing him. When the hospital staff told them that he was not present, they threatened them by flashing pistols. The call transcript, accessed by TOI, shows Jitu threatening the owner for not receiving his calls earlier. “Solanki bol rha hu..tere fayde ki baat bolni hai…ek crore chahiye nahi to tere ladke ko itni goli marwa dunga…chahe kisi ka bhi reference le aiyo,” Jitu is heard saying. When the doctor said that he did not have that much money, the extortionist told him that he would soon show him a trailer, and then cut the call.

After the complainant approached the police, investigating teams scanned the CCTV footage from the hospital and traced the cell phone number. They located Jitu and nabbed him on Tuesday.
