Traffic cops were at their unhelpful best and the harsh sun made matters worse. <br /><br />However, if the ICR form sales at 41,000-odd was anything to go by, none of these factors seemed to deter college aspirants on day-1 of DU admissions.

Times City did a recce around the city''s colleges to see how this year''s mission admission took off.<br /><br />Stephen''s: Kanupriya Dhawan, wide-eyed, sat at the college''s plush green lawns and said: "This is where I really want to come." Action may have begun three weeks ago at here, but kids like Kanupriya were not hard to find. The crowd was relaxed as many students were already done with the form-filling procedure.<br /><br />Hindu: For once, the virgin tree took a back seat because there were more pressing matters on students'' minds. The campus was abuzz with activity. Said Harsimran Kaur: "I haven''t bought the ICR form. I''m sure I''ll get through English here."<br /><br />Miranda House: Student volunteers were there at the gate to assist new-comers. But there were hiccups. "Half-an-hour after the admissions began, the forms got over," said Srishti Sharma. <br /><br />KNC: The college bore a deserted look as compared to its next-door neighbour. But none the less, enthusiastic volunteers and faculty members could be seen helping students.
