NEW DELHI: A constable, deputed as the personal security officer (PSO) to an Isreli diplomat, was suspended on Tuesday after he allegedly threatened an employee of a restaurant near Vasant Vihar’s E block at about 11.30 pm on Monday.
Constable Sandeep Bhardwaj, was on duty from 8 pm on Monady till 8 am on Tuesday at the residence of the diplomat who lives in E block.
Bhardwaj is posted with the security branch of Delhi police. According to the police, a case was registered against Bhardwaj at Vasant Vihar police station on Monday night itself.
The police said that Bhardwaj was drunk when the incident took place. The complainant, Sanjay Kumar, was reportedly on his way to deliver food when Bhardwaj stopped him.
He, however, let Kumar go. On his way back, Kumar was again allegedly stopped by Bhardwaj. Kumar then called a few of his colleagues and an argument ensued. Bhardwaj allegedly fished out his service revolver and threatened Kumar.
The local police was informed by one of the employees of the restaurant. The police said the charges against Bhardwaj amount to a non-bailable offence. The suspended constable is currently in police custody. DCP (security) R L Meena said: "The police is investigating the charges made against Bhardwaj."
