NEW DELHI: Special cell of Delhi Police has busted an international drug racket and arrested three people. Nine kilos of heroin worth Rs 36 crore have been seized too. These narcotics, police suspect, would have found their way to rave Christmas and New Year parties in the capital.

They are planning to request the Kuwaiti government to extradite the kingpin, who goes by the name Ali.
"One Samiullah controls production in Afghanistan. Several conduits based in Afghanistan and Pakistan push heroin into India through Punjab. From there, it is carried by road or rail to Delhi and delivered to the mafia here," said DCP (special cell) Sanjeev Yadav.
Parts of the consignment also go to south India through drug-pushers from Tamil Nadu and Andhra Pradesh. From south India, conduits take it to Sri Lanka.
The accused have disclosed that since January, they have received around 125 kilos of heroin and passed it down the chain. The seized nine kilos were part of a bigger consignment of 57 kilos (worth Rs 200 crore), which was smuggled in a few weeks ago.
The arrested have been identified as A Venugopal Reddy (29) from Andhra Pradesh, Ragmeet Singh (25) and Shurbir Singh (28) from Delhi. While Reddy was picked up from Shankar Road, Shurbir and Ragmeet were arrested from Majnu Ka Tila in a joint operation with Punjab Police.
Reddy told during interrogation that he had gone to Kuwait in 2006 on a work permit and stayed there for three years. He got in touch with Ali through his friend Gopi. He was given the task of ferrying drugs from Delhi to Chennai and was paid Rs 20,000 per trip. Ragmeet and Shurbir, both friends, became part of the cartel with the help of Samiullah.
