Indian Mujahideen sold ammunition to fund terror
NEW DELHI: Two years ago, an arms factory run by Indian Mujahideen at Mir Vihar in Nangloi was busted. Now, IM's India boss Yasin Bhatkal has told investigators that cartridges manufactured there were sold to various anti-social elements to fund IM's own operations.
It was Yasin's idea to have a cartridge manufacturing unit for IM to be self-sustaining. His other colleagues, including IM founder Riyaz Bhatkal, approved of the plan in late 2010.

Yasin's father-in-law, Irshad Khan, arranged for space to set up the factory and also supplied iron and brass. "The manufacturing cost of one bullet was estimated to be about Rs 3 and the same could be sold in the grey market for Rs 200," Yasin told cops.
IM member Qateel Siddiqui was sent to Munger to get a pistol and some cartridge samples. Once they started making their own cartridges in mid-2011, these were test fired near Yamuna opposite Shaheen Bagh. Sources said several test firings went unnoticed, but in one particular test, there was blowback in the pistol that injured Irshad. There were a few more glitches before production started.
