NEW DELHI: Delhi Police have busted a major illegal immigration network, arresting 11 people, including document counterfeiters, Aadhaar operators, and technology specialists who created fraudulent websites, officials said.
DCP South, Ankit Chauhan, revealed that the suspects assisted Bangladeshi citizens by producing fraudulent Aadhaar cards, voter identification cards and other falsified documents through an unauthorised website.
The undocumented immigrants entered India by utilising forest pathways and express railway services, said DCP Chauhan.
He confirmed that authorities have apprehended 11 individuals who aided Bangladeshi nationals by providing counterfeit identification through unauthorised websites.
The suspects utilised counterfeit Aadhaar cards, voter identification documents and additional paperwork created using falsified credentials via an unauthorised website, he noted.
The Delhi lieutenant governor has instructed the chief secretary and police commissioner to implement a two-month intensive campaign to identify and penalise illegal Bangladeshi residents in the capital city.
Delhi police sources indicate that more than 1000 unauthorised Bangladeshi residents have been discovered throughout the city.
The enforcement operation included house-to-house verification, document examination and questioning.
Dedicated teams consisting of local police and foreign cell personnel were assigned to execute targeted operations.
