HC seeks probe over ‘fraud’ petition by man

New Delhi: Noting that " and fraud" was played upon the court, Delhi High Court has ordered a against a man who filed a petition in the name of an NGO, without authorisation. "This court takes note of the submission made by Akbar Ali, the president of the petitioner-NGO, that the present writ petition was filed unauthorisedly, without any authority from the said NGO. This is a very serious matter, and a case of deception and fraud being played upon this Court," Justice Mini Pushkarna observed in an order on Monday. HC was surprised to discover that the petition seeking demolition of an alleged illegal construction in the Okhla area was filed by an imposter who had no links to the Delhi Ki Galiyan NGO, headed by Akbar Ali. "DCP (Central) is directed to investigate the matter and take appropriate action against the aforesaid Farid Ali," it directed after Akbar revealed he had even issued public notices distancing himself and his NGO from Farid. It said the filing of a petition by using the name of an NGO, when the deponent has no concern with it "is gross misdeed and a malpractice". The court also slapped a cost of Rs 50,000 upon Farid.
