HC grants bail to SUV driver accused of mowing down two

New Delhi: Delhi High Court has granted bail to the driver of a speeding SUV who allegedly mowed down two people in Chanakyapuri in Aug last year, citing his young age and lack of criminal antecedents.Justice Manoj Jain directed that Ashish Bachchas be released on a personal bond of Rs 25,000 with one surety of the same amount, subject to trial court approval.Bachchas, 26, was arrested at the spot after his Thar allegedly ran over two persons near Gate No. 3 of Talkatora Stadium on the morning of Aug 10. A chargesheet has been filed and arguments on charges are slated for April 8.Police said multiple drugs were recovered from the vehicle. The defence questioned the LSD claim and said other quantities did not bar bail. Police opposed the plea. TNN
