The police have arrested one Bhavesh Rathod (30), a resident of Gujarat, with 250 ml of cobra snake venom worth Rs 1.5 lakh on Sunday evening.

NEW DELHI: The police have arrested one Bhavesh Rathod (30), a resident of Gujarat, with 250 ml of cobra snake venom worth Rs 1.5 lakh on Sunday evening.
Around 7 pm the police relieved information that the accused was in possession of venom, which he was carrying in a negligent manner, thereby endangering human life, for smuggling purposes.
Accordingly a raid was conducted and the accused arrested from Shakti Nagar Chowk, Roop Nagar in north Delhi.

A bottle containing 250 ml of venom was recovered.
On interrogation Rathod revealed that he works as a marketing agent for a detergent manufacturer in Gujrat, where he met one Ashok Kumar, a medicine dealer, who promised him a handsome margin if he got cobra venom from somewhere.
Subsequently he got in touch with one Yogesh and procured the venom that was extracted from around 1,000 snakes.
