Gangster Neeraj Bawana's uncle injured as car crashes into his Delhi's Mundka office

NEW DELHI: An Independent candidate and uncle of jailed gangster Neeraj Bawana, Rambir Shokeen, was injured when a speeding car crashed into his office in outer Delhi's Mundka on January 31.

The incident was captured on CCTV, showing the vehicle swerving to avoid a motorcycle before crashing into the office.

Shokeen, who was inside the office at the time of the incident, suffered a leg injury. He has alleged that his political opponents orchestrated the attack.

The Delhi Police received a PCR call at Nihal Vihar Police Station at 11.23am regarding the incident.

Police investigation revealed that a Class 12 student from Nilothi village was driving a borrowed car to attend a farewell party at his school with his uncle when the accident occurred.

"He mistakenly pressed the accelerator of the car while saving a motorcycle and in panic turned the steering. The car rammed into Rambir Shokeen's office, which is right outside his house," the police statement explained.

The authorities have clarified that it was an accident and not a deliberate assault, stating that the driver swerved to avoid colliding with a motorcycle.

Shokeen, a former Independent MLA from Mundka Assembly constituency, has a controversial past. In 2015, he was booked under the Maharashtra Control of Organised Crime Act (MCOCA) after an AK-47 was discovered in a plot belonging to him.

His legal troubles continued when he escaped police custody in 2018 while being transported to a city hospital. He was subsequently re-arrested in 2020.

The incident has drawn attention due to Shokeen's relationship with gangster Neeraj Bawana, being his maternal uncle, and his own political background as a former Independent MLA.
