GHAZIABAD: Raghubir Mittal, BJP UP state secretary for municipality election cell was shot dead on Sunday by four assailants in Vijaynagar area, police said on Sunday.
The 50-year-old former Corporator was rushed to a hospital by police where he was declared dead, SSP L Ravi Kumar said, adding, six bullets were pumped in his body by the assailants, who came on a motorcycle and escaped after shooting him.

His wife Vimla Mittal, Corporator from Vijaynagar, reached the hospital with BJP leader and city mayor Damyanti Goyal, former BJP MP Ramesh Chand Tomar and former UP Home Minister Baleshwar Tyagi.
The saffron party leaders strongly criticised Mayawati led BSP government for lawlessness in the state. Mayor Damyanti Goyal said that the Mittal had demanded police security from the state government but it was not provided to him.
Ruling out the possibility of murder being politically motivated, Kumar said, we are investigating the case. Meanwhile, Congress MP Surendra Goyal also reached the hospital and demanded CBI probe into the killing.
