Five arrested for robberies

NEW DELHI: The special staff of south district arrested five persons involved in several cases of dacoity and robbery in Delhi and NCR. The cops also claimed to have seized a knife, two iron rods and jewellery worth several lakhs from their possession. Those arrested have been identified as Wasim Rza Siddiqi (25), Mohd Musibbul (28), Murtza Ali (23), Mohd Samim (24) and Razzak (22)
The five were arrested on a specific tip off from Mehrauli on Thursday when they had gathered to plan a dacoity at a Mehrauli jeweller's house.They revealed that Wasim Rza Siddiqi is the mastermind of this gang and he along with his associates, mainly targeted locked houses. They used to steal only jewellery items, cash and small articles like mobile phones, laptops etc, which could be easily kept in a bag. They adopted a unique modus operandi in which one gang member would stand in front of the house while others were inside. They used to contact each other on mobile phones and the person standing outside would keep them alert about outside happenings, said police.
