FIR after prez daughter’s complaint

NEW DELHI: A day after Congress spokesperson and

President

’s daughter Sharmistha Mukherjee filed a complaint against a man for sending her obscene messages on Facebook, Delhi Police has registered an

FIR

in the case.

Police said they have approached Facebook to get the details of the account and teams have been formed to identify the IP address which was used to send the messages.

A case under sections of the IT Act and a section of IPC (outraging the modesty of a woman) has been registered.

Mukherjee had uploaded the screenshots of the messages sent by the man, whose Facebook profile was by the name Partha Mandal. According to the profile, the man belongs to Naihati in West Bengal. Mukherjee said the person had allegedly sent the messages to her on Friday morning. The man later deleted his profile

On Saturday, Sharmistha had registered a complaint with Facebook, and also filed a complaint with the Delhi Police cyber cell.
