NEW DELHI: A builder filed a false complaint of his daughter being kidnapped after she left home on her own. The teenager had left home after she was scolded and beaten up by her father. It took nine-hours and more than four teams to trace the girl.

He also told police that he had been receiving ransom calls for several numbers. Although he couldn’t clearly tell how much the ransom was asked by the alleged kidnappers, he said that they have even threatened of dire consequences if the ransom was not paid well in time.
The builder told police that his daughter had gone to school on Saturday but she never returned from her school. It was later in the evening that he noticed his daughter missing. He also told police that he searched all her friends’ house and relatives’ but didn’t find the girl.
The staff from two police stations and the technical experts were roped in to handle the case. During investigation, it turned out that the numbers that the builder had given, alleging them to be from the kidnappers asking him for the ransom, were made from PCO booths.
With help of the local intelligence, the police traced the girl on Tuesday around 5 am. When asked the girl from where was she kidnapped and who were the kidnappers, she told police that she had left on her own on Sunday after her father scolded and thrashed her for some issue.
She had taken a rickshaw and asked him to take her to different places. While roaming around, she used to make calls at her home and to her relatives from the PCO booths asking them to make her father understand that he will not repeat his act again. She even went to India Gate and slept there.

The builder had lied to the cops and told a wrong date. He even lied about the ransom calls. The calls that the girl was making from the PCO booths were presented to police as the ransom calls.
The girl alleged that her father tried to put kerosene in her food. But she refused to get a written complaint or FIR registered.
“The builder was lying to get through his daughter. The team worked the entire night to trace the girl, thinking it to be another kidnapping case. She is okay but she refused to get any complaint registered and hence, there is no FIR in this case,” said DCP (northeast) Veenu Bansal.
The girl was handed over to her parents after her medical check-up was conducted which confirmed nothing untoward happened to the girl.
