NEW DELHI: Trial in the murder case of IT executive Jigeesha Ghosh began on Thursday with the examination of her father as the first prosecution witness.
Beginning with the recording of evidence, the prosecution produced J N Ghosh, father of the victim, as its first witness. "I had participated in the test identification parade (TIP) of recovered goods of my daughter Jigeesha before metropolitan magistrate Veena Rani," Ghosh told additional sessions judge S K Sarvaria.
"I identified one gold chain and two gold rings of my daughter," he added. The witness said officials of HDFC Bank had informed him that Rs 25,000 was withdrawn using the ATM card of his daughter. The accused had also purchased goods worth Rs 70,000 using Jigeesha's debit card, he said.
The victim's father said her body was recovered on March 21, 2009 from a place near Surajkund in Haryana. He was later cross-examined by Amit Kumar, advocate for accused Amit Shukla and Baljit Singh Malik.
The victim (28), who was working with Hewitt Associate Private Ltd as operations manager, was abducted and then killed on March 18 after she was dropped home by her office cab around 4.00am, the prosecution said.
The court has framed charges against three accused — Ravi Kapoor, Amit Shukla and Baljit Singh Malik — under IPC and Arms Act, dealing with murder, criminal conspiracy, abduction, robbery, forgery and using firearms.
