Farmers' protest: Delhi Police issues traffic advisory for outer and central Delhi
NEW DELHI: Commuters are expected to face traffic snarls today, particularly during the early morning hours, due to diversions and increased deployment at borders and around critical establishments in view of the proposed 'Dilli Chalo' march by farmer unions.
On Monday morning, heavy traffic was reported from many parts of the city, especially outer, north-west and central Delhi. The roads between Ghazipur and Anand Vihar were choked while vehicular movement remained slow at Singhu border amid curbs.

Pankaj, a motorist who was headed to Ghaziabad, said he was stuck in traffic for 30-40 minutes in Anand Vihar. "It was very tough to exit Delhi," he added. Amitabh, another commuter, said he faced heavy congestion at the Gurgaon-Delhi border. Similar scenes were observed on roads linking east and central Delhi.
Police said diversions have been put in place for commercial and private vehicles around Delhi borders ahead of the proposed farmers' protest. "At the three borders, over 1,500 traffic police personnel will be deployed to ensure there are no snarls," an officer said. Additional commissioner of police (traffic) Chinmoy Biswal said that elaborate arrangements have been made within the city as well.
Meanwhile, Delhi Traffic Police, which was flooded with queries on social platform X about routes to be taken on Tuesday, released an advisory and requested motorists to avoid border areas.
It said those going towards Sonipat, Panipat and Karnal via NH44 can take Exit 1 (Alipur cut) to Shani Mandir, Palla Bakhtawarpur Road Y-point, Dahisara village road two-lane stretch, MCD toll Dahisara, Jatti Kalan road, Singhu Stadium and PS Kundali.
