NEW DELHI: In its first executive meeting following Delhi election, senior BJP leaders asked party cadre to go out to the grassroots and expose AAP leaders as "political mercenaries hired, supported and controlled by
Congress party".
Sources said the party will continue to demand dismissal of ministers Somnath Bharti and
Manish Sisodia.
Wednesday's meet was skipped by leader of the opposition in Delhi assembly, Harsh Vardhan, and a few other MLAs.
Vardhan is reportedly not in town.
The meeting was attended by senior party leader,
Arun Jaitley, and newly-appointed 'state organization in-charge' Rajya Sabha member, Prabhat Jha. "A political resolution has been passed by the Delhi BJP state executive after deliberations for over five hours.... We have concluded that Delhi is currently being ruled by a bunch of political mercenaries hired, supported and controlled by Congress party...
The words and actions of AAP leaders betray the fact that it is a Maoist outfit," said a statement released by BJP.
Almost two months after declaration of results, senior leaders thanked the people of Delhi for the support in the December 4 state election. "Party workers will go all out to expose AAP and work at the grassroots level to ensure that BJP wins all seven Lok Sabha seats.
...AAP and Congress are two sides of the same coin and Congress should withdraw support if it does not agree with AAP policies. Instead of delivering on promises which AAP made to the people, it is trying to divert the attention of people away from its failures by creating political drama and indulging in mudslinging," newly-elected Rajya Sabha member
Vijay Goel said. The issue of massive transfers in every government department was also raised. "An unworkable atmosphere has been created. Many senior officials are being asked to report to officers much junior to them," the party's statement said.
Commenting on the Jan Lokpal Bill, Goel said, "AAP's Jan Lokpal is a political stunt. It should dismiss corrupt ministers and focus on strengthening Lokayukta if it's really serious about tacking corruption. The attempts by Congress to obstruct
Narendra Modi's victory march will not succeed. BJP workers in Delhi are fully geared up to ensure a historic victory for the party on all seven seats in the Lok Sabha polls."
