NOIDA: Former Uttar Pradesh Youth Congress general secretary Pramod Sharma was shot dead at his Dadri residence on Thursday, by unidentified gunmen.
The car-borne assailants, who struck at 6.30 am, shot Sharma (40) at least seven times in the forehead, chest and right eye from point-blank range.
The police said Sharma, who was currently a hoarding concessionaire for the Noida Authority, was probably a victim of personal enmity.

But relatives suspect the murder was politically motivated.
According to police superintendent Pushpak Jyoti, four men arrived at Sharma’s house. ‘‘Two waited in the car, while two knocked at the door. When the door was opened, one of the men shot at Sharma, who was then chased by the assailants.’’ An eye-witness Brij Bharat said, ‘‘The men waiting in the car threw Sharma to the ground. The two pursuers then shot him dead. Sharma’s wife, Bhagwati, grabbed hold of an assailant, but he fought her off and escaped.’’
Sharma’s residence is in the crowded Niyadatganj locality, about 500 metres from the Dadri police station. Despite Bhagwati’s pleas no one came to help.
