Euphoria, Shubha Mudgal to perform at music fest

Well-known singers Shubha Mudgal and Jasbir Jassi and popular Indi-pop bands like Euphoria and Astitva will perform at the 'Raag Rang Festival' in the capital from May 6 to 12.

NEW DELHI: Well-known singers Shubha Mudgal and Jasbir Jassi and popular Indi-pop bands like Euphoria and Astitva will perform at the 'Raag Rang Festival' in the capital from May 6 to 12.
The seven-day festival, to be held at the Central Park in Connaught Place, is free and open to all.
The multi-lingual music festival also boasts of performances in Punjabi, Bhojpuri and Sindhi.

Other artists at the festival include Kajal Chandermani, Uma Lalla and Bhojpuri singers Guddu Rangila, Ranjana Jha and others.
While Euphoria will perform on the sixth day of the festival, Indian Idol 4 contestant Mohit Lalwani will be the highlight of the last day. In between, Santosh Nair will render a contemporary dance performance followed by the multi-genre band Astitva. Also on the slate is a qawwali performance by Atique Husain Hyderabadi.
"Raag Rang is an initiative to bring together different genres of Indian music under one banner and showcase the fact that they might be different in forms, but are common to our composite culture," says Nila Mohanan, additional secretary, department of art, culture and languages, government of Delhi that organises the festival in collaboration with Sahitya Kala Parishad and the Hindi, Punjabi, Urdu and Sindhi academies.
According to Mohanan, music is one of the expressions that defines the vibrancy and culture of India. "And there's no dearth of such expression in any corner of our country," says Mohanan.
