NEW DELHI: A 63-year-old retired PWD contractor was found murdered at home in outer Delhi's Begumpur village late on Tuesday night. Some cash and jewellery kept inside a locker in his room were missing. The man's daughter-in-law and a neighbour are the main suspects. Both are at large.
Tej Ram Yadav's body was found on the floor of his bedroom. He had been gagged with a piece of white cloth and had received injuries to his head and face.

He lived on the ground floor and had been earlier bedridden with gout.
Yadav's son Pawan, who works for a television channel, said he had received a call from his wife, Pooja, around 5pm, saying something had gone wrong in the house and asking him to rush home immediately. While he was on his way home, she called again to inform Yadav had been murdered but disconnected abruptly. He has been unable to reach her since that call. Pawan informed his sister immediately and reached home around 9pm. The main door was open and he rushed in to find the body. Pooja was missing.
Family members say Yadav and Pawan had an argument with Pooja a few months ago after they suspected her of having an extramarital affair with a neighbour. When reprimanded, Pooja had, in turn, threatened her father-in-law with dire consequences if he interfered with her personal life. Police said there were signs of a struggle at the crime scene and it appeared there were more than one assailant. The neighbour in question has also gone missing since the incident.
A case of murder and robbery has been registered.
