NEW DELHI: In a press conference on Monday, Delhi Cabinet minister Atishi accused the Enforcement Directorate (ED) of misleading the court regarding Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal's insulin requirements. Kejriwal, who has diabetes, had filed a fresh plea on Friday requesting daily 15-minute consultations with his physician and insulin administration while in jail.

Atishi said, "The ED lied in court and said specialists from AIIMS were consulted and they have said that no insulin is needed and have also formulated a diet chart for Kejriwal."

She pointed out that the diet chart was created by a dietician, not an endocrinologist or diabetologist, emphasizing that dieticians are not MBBS doctors. The ED used this diet chart to argue in court that Kejriwal does not require insulin.

However, prison authorities said that on Saturday, the Tihar administration facilitated a video conference between Kejriwal and AIIMS specialists.

"During the 40-minute consultation, neither the issue of insulin was raised by Kejriwal, nor was it suggested by the doctors," according to a jail official.

The official added that Kejriwal was reassured that there were no serious concerns and was advised to continue with the prescribed medications, which would be regularly evaluated and reviewed.
