NEW DELHI: The festival of colours has coincided with a total lunar eclipse on Sunday. But the good news, say astrologers, is that this does not particularly have ominous connotations. A second eclipse in the same month — partial solar eclipse — will occur on March 19.However, astrologers have a word of caution for those born under Leo, Capricorn and Aquarius signs.
The impact of the event, according to astrologers, is witnessed two to three months before and after the eclipse. The lunar eclipse occurring in faguni nakshatra and Leo sign will be good for Gemini, Libra and Scorpio. Chanting is advised to calm individuals.
The partial lunar eclipse would have started at 3 am on Sunday and moved progressively till total eclipse phase commenced at 4:14 am. The total eclipse would have ended by 5:27 am and the partial eclipse by 6:41 am, by the time you get up and gear up for Holi, said N Rathnasree, director, Nehru Planetarium.Astrologers said the occurrence of lunar eclipse on the same day as Holi would not have much of an adverse impact. "Those whose moon is weakly placed may have mood swings and bouts of depression because of the eclipse. But such people are affected even during low tides and high tides. Its congruence with Holi should not be taken otherwise," said Naveen Khanna, astrologer.According to numerologist Sanjay B Jumaani: "Those born on date totalling to or adding to 1, 2, 4, 7 or namely those born on 1st, 10th, 19th or 28th or series of 2 (2, 11, 20, 19), 4 (4, 13, 22, 31), 7 (7, 16 and 25) and all Cancerians should watch out for mood swings." He advised yoga and meditation for balancing emotions.Rathnashree dismissed speculation about the adverse effects of eclipse on Holi: "There is no relation between the two and it is not harmful for anyone. Even last year, Holi coincided with a lunar eclipse — the eclipse was penumbral (which cannot be seen by the naked eye)." In 1998, Holi and lunar eclipse had occurred on the same day.
