East Delhi Municipal Corporation issues Rs 52 lakh fines for violations

East Delhi Municipal Corporation

issued fines worth Rs 52.2 lakh in an intensive drive against violation of

anti-pollution

guidelines. Led by commissioner Dilraj Kaur, EDMC officials inspected 1,017 spots and issued 530 challans till late on Monday night.

Officials said that the drive, which began on October 14, focused on industrial zones and five teams were formed to take strict action by night patrolling. Three violators have been apprehended and FIRs against 13 people have also been lodged

Commissioner Kaur said that no polluting units, groups or individuals will be spared in any case.
