E-bike on charge sparks building fire, leaves 3 dead in Delhi
According to fire officials, they received a call at 2.35am. The fire was doused by 7.20am. Delhi Fire Services chief Atul Garg said five fire tenders were rushed to the spot. Thirteen people were rescued.
Smoke On Staircase Made Escape Tough For Residents
Officials said that the charred remains of a 66-year-old woman, Promila Sadh, were discovered on the first floor of the build ing. Two others, identified as 18-year-old Keshav Sharma and his mother, 39-year-old Anju Sharma, were declared brought dead by doctors.
Survivors and neighbours recounted the harrow ing experience, stating that the staircase was filled with smoke, making it tough for residents to escape. The only mode of exit was from the back of the building through the balconies. “The blaze spread to the first floor of the apartment while the second, third and fourth were also impacted by heat and smoke,” a resident said.
Speaking about the rescue, a senior police officer said that they rescued two people from first floor while five people were rescued from the second floor. The third floor was vacant and others were rescued from the fourth floor. Neighbour Sapna Sadh’s hands trembled as she recalled the previous night and described it as staring death in the face: “I was awakened by blood-curdling screams from the back of the affected building. When I stepped out onto the balcony, I saw the entire building engulfed in smoke. I immediately rushed to the terrace and fetched my ladder.”
DCP Chaudhary said they had registered an FIR under IPC Sections 285 (negligent conduct with respect to fire or combustible matter), 304A (causing death by negligence), 337 (causing hurt by act endangering life or personal safety of others) and 427 (mischief causing damage to the amount of Rs 50) at Krishna Nagar police station and investigation is being carried out. “Post-mortem of the bodies were conducted,” said the police officer.

Fire breaks out in southeast Delhi area, 12 huts gutted
A fire in the Chilla Khadar area of southeast Delhi destroyed 12 huts. The Delhi Fire Service (DFS) responded with seven fire tenders, extinguishing the flames in an hour. No injuries were reported.
