DUSU chief Ankiv Baisoya submitted fake documents for admission: NSUI
NEW DELHI: The National Students Union of India (NSUI) alleged on Tuesday that the undergraduate marksheets furnished by the recently-elected
The NSUI alleged that Baisoya had submitted the “fake” marksheets to gain admission in MA Buddhist Studies and that the issuing university had stated that no person with that name was in their records.
The circulated photographs are of two marksheets — one of the third semester in 2015 and another of the sixth semester in 2016 — for a BA degree in the name of Ankiv Baisoya (roll number BA 95624, registration number TVUBAJ500203). These marksheets show that they were issued in Serkaddu, Vellor, by Thiruvalluvar University, Tamil Nadu, and signed by the Registrar (evaluation).
The letter from the controller of exams says: “With reference to the above, it is informed that the copy of the certificate of following candidate (Ankiv Baisoya, BA, reg no TVU/BA/500203) has been verified and found that the said certificate is not genuine. It is a fake certificate”. The reference in the letter was to the marksheets.
Ankiv told TOI that what was being circulated as a letter issued by the controller of examinations was fake. “There are severals issues with that letter — it has no date and the language is also odd,” he said. However, the letter does carry a date — September 7, 2018. ABVP, too, questioned the authenticity of the letter. “Delhi University gave admission to Ankiv Baisoya after due verification of its documents...DU has all the right to verify documents of any student enrolled in the university. But it’s not the job of NSUI to provide certificates to any person,” it said in a statement.
However, the controller of exams, B Senthil Kumar, confirmed to TOI that the letter had indeed been signed by him.
Ankiv restricted himself to confirming to TOI that he did submit marksheets from Thiruvalluvar University to DU for admission to MA Buddhist Studies. He said he had completed his undergraduate course in BA (pass) from the TN-based university in 2016.
Though Baisoya told TOI that he would cooperate with Delhi University in any investigation in the matter, the university did not confirm if it was going to conduct a probe. The head of department of Buddhist Studies, KTS Sarao, said that university may not be able to check the certificates of all candidates on its own but they are scrutinised case by case when a complaint is received. “I have not been given any formal complaint in the matter till now,” said Sarao. “In case we receive such a complaint, we involve the police and they help us ascertain if the certificate is indeed fake.”
