NEW DELHI: Delhi witnessed rain showers, dust storms, and strong winds on Tuesday evening as the IMD issued red and orange alerts for thunderstorms, lightning, hail, and moderate rainfall in several parts of the city.
According to the IMD, moderate rain with thunderstorms is likely in parts of Delhi, with wind speeds of 60–80 kmph, gusting up to 90 kmph, along with lightning and hail.
Light to moderate rain with thunderstorms and lightning is also expected in other areas, with wind speeds of 40–50 kmph.
An orange alert has been issued for outer north Delhi, north-west Delhi and north-east Delhi, as well as nearby areas, where thunderstorms with lightning and strong winds are likely.
A red alert has been issued for other parts of the city.
Dusty winds and cloudy skies were seen in several areas on Tuesday evening, giving temporary relief from the heat ahead of the expected storm activity.
