and Rajeev Gupta wanted to earn quick money. So they downloaded photographs of their former employer and morphed them into obscene ones. They threatened her to send those images to her husband if she didn’t pay up.

To mislead the police, Pathak filed a complaint about the loss of his phone but continued to call and threaten the woman with the old number. This went on for a month.

Fed up, the woman went to the police, who advised her to ask Pathak to collect the money from

Anand Vihar

railway station. He was arrested on Monday.

During interrogation, he said he used to call the woman at the behest of Gupta. He was picked up from a mall later.

“They told us that they had copied the photographs from the woman’s husband’s laptop, thinking that they would

the couple whenever an opportunity arose,” said a police officer.

Apparently, the modus operandi was inspired by two popular TV serials.

Police seized two USB drives containing some obscene videos and photographs, and four mobile phones used for making the extortion calls.
