NEW DELHI:

Students

of Delhi University protested against the Citizenship (Amendment) Bill (CAB) on Thursday. They took out a march in North Campus and burnt a

copy

of the Bill.

It was a protest called by All India Students’ Association (AISA) along with students from the Northeast.

Madhurima Kundu, DU AISA secretary, said, “CAB has been brought by RSS-BJP to further the agenda of a ‘Hindu rashtra’ of the Sangh Parivar. Amit Shah is no one to tell us whether we are citizens of this country or not.We also condemn the state repression in Assam on protesters.”

The protest was joined by Sandipan Talukdar, a journalist from Assam, Sajjad Hussain, journalist, Nandita Narain, former DUTA president and N Sukumar, a DU professor. They raised concerns on the situation in Assam and how CAB will create another partition in the country. Meanwhile, students from Assam studying in Delhi will be at the Parliament on Friday.
