Drone on tracks delays Blue Line services

New Delhi: Delhi Metro services on Blue Line were impacted for around 40 minutes on Wednesday, which caused huge inconvenience to passengers. The services were affected after a drone was spotted lying on the tracks.
"Train services on Blue Line were regulated from 2.50 pm to 3.29 pm as a drone was spotted lying on the tracks between Uttam Nagar East and Uttam Nagar West metro stations. To ensure proper safety and security protocols, the drone was removed from the tracks by security personnel," said Anuj Dayal, principal executive director, corporate communications, DMRC.
During this period, train services were not available between Uttam Nagar East and Uttam Nagar West to ensure the movement of personnel to remove the object from the tracks. However, single-line train services were provided between Uttam Nagar East & Janakpuri West and between Uttam Nagar West and Dwarka.
Train services were effectively available on the rest of the sections of Blue Line during this period in two loops, that is, from Janakpuri West to Vaishali/Noida Electronic City and Dwarka to Dwarka Sec-21 sections. "Normal services on the entire Blue Line from Dwarka Sector-21 to Noida Electronic City/Vaishali were resumed from 3.29 pm onwards after the security clearance," said Dayal.
DMRC also tweeted about the delay. Probe was on to find out how the drone reached the tracks.
