NEW DELHI: A drone footage has captured the heightened security measures implemented by the Delhi Police at the Singhu border as preparations intensified ahead of the farmers' scheduled march towards the capital on February 13. Check out the footage below.
Police have bolstered security measures in anticipation of the "Chalo Delhi" march called by farmers. Starting their journey on Monday farmers are set to converge upon Delhi on Tuesday (February 13).
In preparation for the farmer unions' march towards Delhi authorities in Haryana and Delhi have fortified their borders with neighboring states. This entails the installation of concrete barriers, road spikes and barbed wires to deter vehicular access alongside the deployment of a substantial police force. Prohibitory orders have also been imposed to maintain law and order.
Travelers heading to Delhi from the DND border should consider using the elevated road via Sector 18 from Film City. For those coming from the Chilla side, the recommended route includes the Sector 14A Flyover, Roundabout Chowk, Sector 15 via Sandeep Paper Mill Chowk, and Jhundapura Chowk.
Regarding travel from the Kalindi Kunj Border to Delhi, it's suggested to utilize the Mahamaya Flyover. For commuters on the Yamuna Expressway, it's advisable to exit at Jewar Toll towards Khurja and proceed via the Jahangirpur route.
Protesting farmers' primary agenda revolves around pressing the Central government to heed various demands notably the implementation of a law ensuring Minimum Support Price (MSP) for agricultural produce. Jagjit Singh, leader of the Samyukta Kisan Morcha said that over 200 farmers' unions nationwide will partake in the 'Delhi Chalo' movement.
The Indira Gandhi International Airport (IGIA) has issued a precautionary advisory. Flyers are urged to "plan your trip accordingly" and remain updated about possible delays in travel arrangements.
