NEW DELHI: The JNU

Students

’ Union has obtained the record of

cars

that were allowed into the campus on February 9 from the security office and discovered that the joint-secretary, ABVP member Saurabh Sharma, had signed in cars from two television channels that night.

The event on Kashmir was held that evening where “anti-national” slogans were allegedly shouted. The rest of JNUSU—and students affiliated to Left parties—have long maintained that the events have all the traits of a set-up. Now AISA members believe they have the proof.

“After the evidence of doctored videos being circulated by some

channels, it becomes evident that there was a design behind the incidents that followed. Last but not the least, why did the reporters cite Saurabh Sharma (ABVP being an interested party) and not the permission of JNU registrar which is the convention?” said an AISA activist.

“I have never claimed that I haven’t called the media. I mailed the electronic media about the developments around 4pm. The point is why are they trying to hide what’s happening inside the campus from the media? They (AISA) and other Left groups have been doing this for years, not allowing media in their programmes so that they are not exposed,” said Sharma.
