NEW DELHI: One person died and two were injured when a DJB employee — allegedly under the influence of alcohol — opened fire at them for allegedly preventing him from entering a building and meeting a woman whom he claimed to know in the redlight area of G B Road, central Delhi, said police. The incident was reported on Sunday afternoon near Kothi 64 in the redlight area.
Kanta Prasad, a DJB employee, was not allowed to enter the building by Ram Babu (32), Rishal (24) and Badri (32), who work there as guards.

Said a senior police officer, "Prasad was drunk. When the three resisted him, as argument ensued between them. Prasad pulled out his licensed revolver and opened fire at them. There were four rounds of bullet shot. While Ram Babu suffered a bullet injury in his stomach and died on the spot, the others were hit on the shoulder. They were taken to LNJP Hospital and are out of danger."
"Prasad is said to be in a relationship with a woman in the building. He allegedly tried to establish a live-in relationship with the woman even though her cousin is staying with him in Geeta Colony, east Delhi. This infuriated the woman, who claimed he was two-timing the sisters and asked her employees to stop Kanta from harassing her," said Jaspal Singh, DCP (central).
Singh said the weapon used by the accused was acquired in 2008 from UP. "This has an all-India permit, which is very difficult to acquire. He has told us that he is a native of Bulandshahr, and he got the pistol from there. We are inquiring the genuineness of his claims," said the DCP.
Prasad is a resident of Mayur Vihar Phase III, and used to visit Geeta Colony often, he added.
"Prasad will be taken into custody as soon as he is discharged from hospital," said the DCP, adding a case of murder and Arms Act has been registered at the Kamla Market police station.
