NEW DELHI: The national capital registered a minimum temperature of 4.3 degrees Celsius on Saturday, which is four notches below the seasonal average, as reported by the India Meteorological Department.

Despite the cold, the city continued to grapple with severe pollution, with the overall Air Quality Index (AQI) at 9am reaching 402, falling within the 'severe' category, according to data from the Central Pollution Control Board.

Air Quality Index (AQI) categories are defined as follows: 'Good' for readings between zero and 50, 'Satisfactory' for 51 to 100, 'Moderate' for 101 to 200, 'Poor' for 201 to 300, 'Very Poor' for 301 to 400, and 'Severe' for 401 to 500.

The IMD predicts predominantly clear skies throughout the day, with the maximum temperature expected to hover around 22 degrees Celsius.

Humidity stood at 97 per cent at 8:30am.
