NEW DELHI: The

Special Cell

of Delhi Police has invoked provisions of the stringent Unlawful Activities Prevention Act (

UAPA

) against arrested gangster-turned-terrorist Sukhmeet Pal Singh alias Sukh Bhikhariwal.

A court has remanded Bhikhariwal, arrested last week from Indira Gandhi International Airport, to two weeks of custody under Special Cell.

Delhi Police also sought the remand of a man named Jagtar Singh Johal, an alleged member of pro-Khalistan outfit, who is lodged in a Punjab jail. Cops told the court that they needed to confront Johal with Bhikhariwal as the two were apparently connected and worked for the same handler.

Johal (30) was a resident of Dumbarton, Scotland. He was arrested on November 4, 2017 from Jalandhar by Punjab Police for his alleged role in the targeted killings reported from April 2016 to October 2017, including the murder of RSS functionary Jagdish Gagneja.

Special Cell's investigation suggested that Bhikhariwal was connected with slain Khalistani militant Harminder Singh alias Mintu and played a role in the targeted killings along with Johal.
