Delhi records lowest maximum temperature in October this year
NEW DELHI: Delhi experienced an unusually cool day on Tuesday with a high temperature of 26.2 degrees Celsius, marking a deviation of seven degrees below the typical October norms. This temperature was the lowest maximum recorded for October this year, as confirmed by meteorological authorities.
The previous night's showers in the national capital contributed to a drop in the minimum temperature, which settled at 17.2 degrees Celsius, two degrees below the seasonal average.
A bout of gusty winds and rainfall swept through parts of the city on Monday night. From 8.30 am on Monday to 8:30 am on Tuesday, the city received 5 mm of rainfall, according to data from the India Meteorological Department (IMD).
The humidity at 8.30 am on Tuesday was at 80 percent, which gradually decreased to 68 percent by 5.30 pm.
The Air Quality Index (AQI) at 9 am registered a value of 123, falling within the "moderate" category. By 8 pm, it had improved to 88, signifying a "satisfactory" air quality level. The AQI scale categorizes air quality as follows: 0-50 (good), 51-100 (satisfactory), 101-200 (moderate), 201-300 (poor), 301-400 (very poor), and above 400 (severe). An AQI exceeding 500 falls into the "severe plus" category.
The weather office's forecast for the remainder of the day included a generally cloudy sky.
On the preceding day, the maximum temperature had been 30.5 degrees Celsius, which was three degrees lower than the seasonal average.
