NEW DELHI: Morning showers in the city waterlogged major arterial roads leading to

traffic snarls

on Sunday. Traffic police officers say that waterlogging was mainly reported from the low-lying areas and the stretches where construction work in taking places. Snarls were reported at Mathura Road, Outer Ring Road and Mehrauli Badarpur road through the day due to the accumulation of water.

Cops had to shut the entire Minto Road due to heavy water logging under the

Minto Bridge

where a bus got nearly submerged.



Snarls were reported at Mathura Road, near Pragati Maidan, Ashram and New Friends Colony, in central Delhi where water had accumulated due to the construction work being carried out.


Traffic jams were reported near the IIT-Delhi Campus and

Munirka

flyover due to waterlogging near another construction site on the way to the airport.

Waterlogging was also reported from the Rao Tula Ram Marg. Major traffic jams occurred on the Mehrauli Badarpur road due to waterlogging near Devli.

Traffic moved slowly near

the Sarai Kale Khan

and at the mouth of the Signature Bridge.

The movement of vehicles was hampered due to waterlogging at in areas like Bharthal Chowk on Dwarka Link Road, Wazirabad Road, Apsara roundabout, Mandoli and Rajokri flyover.

Traffic was also affected on NH-24. Low lying areas on the Ring Road and outer Ring Road in south Delhi were was alse severely affected.

Heavy traffic was reported on different roads till late afternoon hours.

Rain caused snarls around Model Town,

Nigambodh Ghat

and the IP flyover due to ankle deep water. Stretches around the Maharani Bagh was also snarled due to this.
