NEW DELHI: An official reported on Thursday that over 1,090 cases of alleged Model Code of Conduct (MCC) violations have been registered in Delhi.
These cases were filed between January 7, when the MCC came into effect, and February 5.
The police have apprehended or detained 35,020 individuals under various preventive measures and statutory provisions, as per an official release.
According to the statement, Delhi Police has registered 1,098 instances of alleged Model Code of Conduct violations. They have seized 472 unlicensed firearms and 534 rounds of ammunition, leading to 496 arrests under the Arms Act.
Officials have confiscated 1,14,699 litres of alcohol and arrested 1,423 persons.
Additionally, they have seized 206.712 kg of narcotics valued at over Rs 77.9 crore, along with more than 1,200 prohibited injections, resulting in 179 arrests thus far.
The statement further indicated that enforcement agencies have confiscated Rs 11.70 crore in currency notes and 37.39 kg of silver.
