NEW DELHI: Delhi police have dismantled a gambling racket in Bhawani Kunj, arresting 16 individuals and seizing Rs 2.2 lakh in cash, 760 plastic coins, and two packs of playing cards, on Wednesday.

The operation, led by the Vasant Kunj South Police Station, was based on intelligence gathered on October 29, 2024, following reports of organized gambling in the area.

The arrested individuals include Aashish Dheengra, Naveen Kumar, Mukesh Kumar, Amit Kumar, Rahul Gupta, Sachin Gupta, Aakash, Shubam Dubey, Aman Dheengra, Shyamal, Piyush, Kanahiya, Vipin Chopra, Aman Khurana, Prashant Gupta, and Hardeep Singh.

A team consisting of sub inspector Upender Singh, Head Constables Kishan, Manjeet, and Kuldeep, under Inspector Arvind Pratap Singh and ACP Satyjeet Sarin, conducted a swift raid at the identified location.

Upon arrival at Flat No. 67, First Floor, Bhawani Kunj, the police discovered 16 individuals engaged in gambling activities. An FIR has been filed under the Delhi Public Gambling Act, and all 16 suspects were apprehended with the recovered items confiscated.

Further inquiries, including identifying the property owner, are underway.
