Delhi police dismantle illegal drug network and cocaine syndicate
New Delhi: Police have arrested three men for allegedly running an illegal supply network of banned and controlled pharmaceutical drugs in Delhi-NCR.
The accused were identified as Rahul (29), Mohammad Akram (28), and Suraj Prasad (36), all of whom were allegedly involved in procuring and distributing restricted medicines for profit.
Rahul was apprehended from Uttam Nagar while travelling on a scooty. During a search, police recovered a substantial quantity of psychotropic substances and controlled medicines from the vehicle. Based on his interrogation, his associates Akram and Suraj were later traced and arrested from a meeting point in the city.
The recovered contraband includes Alprazolam tablets weighing around 1.5 kg, Tramadol-based capsules and related medicines weighing approximately 1.8 kg, and about 12 litres of codeine-based cough syrup. The scooty used to transport the drugs has also been seized.
A case was registered under sections of the NDPS Act, and further investigation is underway.
In another operation, police busted an interstate drug syndicate and seized high-quality cocaine worth around Rs5 crore.
Police apprehended a 29-year-old man, Javed Hussain, near the Ghazipur roundabout and recovered about 456 grams of cocaine from his possession. During interrogation, he revealed the name of his supplier, following which a raid was conducted in Bareilly, Uttar Pradesh. The supplier, Soib Khan (25), was arrested from his residence. Police said both accused were involved in supplying cocaine in Delhi-NCR.
