Delhi Police busts fake car sale scam, one arrested
New Delhi: Delhi Police has busted a fake online car-selling scam and arrested a former car seller in connection with the case. The scam came to light after a resident of East Delhi’s Trilokpuri was allegedly cheated of Rs 2 lakh.Police had received a complaint from the man on April 16, claiming that he had been duped on the pretext of a second-hand car deal. According to the complainant, he had been approached by an unknown person through an online platform. Once the money had been transferred as a booking and processing charge, he did not receive the vehicle, and all contact was cut.“Analysis of bank transactions revealed that the cheated amount was transferred into a bank account, leading to the identification of the suspect as Aman Sethi”, said DCP (East) Rajeev Kumar.Sethi, a 32-year-old resident of Shiv Puri Extension, was traced and nabbed. He was also found to be involved in a previous cheating case at the Krishna Nagar police station.

Police said that the accused would pose as an employee of reputed car-selling platforms and then demand money in his personal bank account. Two debit cards, two mobile phones and two SIM cards have been seized.A case has been registered under sections 308 (extortion), 318 (cheating), 319 (cheating by personation) and 340 (forged document or electronic record and using it as genuine) of BNS.
