NEW DELHI: A two-year-old boy lost his life, and his elder brother sustained injuries after being allegedly attacked by their father, who subsequently attempted suicide in northwest Delhi's Bharat Nagar area.
The accused, identified as Rakesh and a resident of JJ Colony, reportedly had a heated argument with his wife on Monday evening.
Amid the dispute, Rakesh locked himself in a room with their two sons, using a sharp-edged weapon to attack them.
The police were alerted at around 6.30pm.
The injured children were taken to Deep Chand Bandhu Hospital and later referred to Dr Ram Manohar Lohia Hospital where the younger son succumbed to his injuries, while Rakesh and his five-year-old elder son are currently undergoing medical treatment.
Rakesh, described as unemployed and grappling with alcoholism, now faces charges under Section 302 (murder) of the Indian Penal Code.
